I had a ‘play-day’ yesterday with my quilting friends and whilst they dyed fabric in the microwave (producing some wonderful results), I decided to give Inktense pencils a workout. Good results but whilst using fabric medium, as opposed to water, does stop the bleeding, it does change the feel of the fabric.
I had fun making this for friend’s little baby girl, Jordan, born 10 days ago. A bright eye-spy quilt which will provide wonderful spotting opportunities for her and hopefully form the basis of stories to be told by her parents.

I received an enquiry, via WA Quilters’ Association, from someone who wanted a children’s quilt, that had been made probably 5 years ago, duplicated. I was sent a photo. My heart sank when I saw it was based on a panel of fabric which had obviously been ‘out of print’ for a long time. However, after about an hour of internet research using Google, Pinterest and eBay, I was able to track down the range of fabric that had been used, the manufacturer and a fabric panel that was for sale on eBay. So I have managed to reproduce the quilt using the same panel, albeit with different borders. A great result!
I am so thrilled that my little piece entitled Resilience got selected for the Stitched and Bound exhibition at the Zig Zag gallery in Kalamunda which is on until 30 July. My piece depicts the Ring of Brodgar on Orkney and is made from Harris Tweed embellished with wool and silk.
Welcome to my new website. I thought it was time for an update. Quirky Quilts business continues as usual and I am still loving quilting. I have put a few off the peg quilts onto this new website (click on tab above) but still have many more to add! I have also put up examples of some of my custom made quilts (to give you some ideas) and some of my art quilts in the relevant sections.
I have just finished this little wall hanging ‘Japanese Sunset’ which I love and which is certainly quirky!
